The 65th edition of Miss Universe is almost here and within few weeks we will have a new queen reigning over the Universe. On 30th January 2017, Pia Wurtzbach will pass on her crown to her successor. While earlier it was being said that more than 100 contestants will participate at the pageant, it is now rumoured that around 86-88 contestants are confirmed to participate.
Contestants for the Miss Universe pageants are scheduled to arrive between January 12-14. According to sources, the reason why these dates of arrival were fixed was to synchronize the arrival with the media coverage at the airport on arrival.
As the clock is ticking and excitement is increasing, the Department of Tourism recently released the initial calendar of events for the Miss Universe candidates. Below is the calendar, synchronize your calendar with the MU calendar and remember the dates...
Jan.7 – Arrival of 2-3 candidates in Manila
Jan.13 - Bulk arrivals of the candidates
Jan.14 - Boracay photoshoot
Jan.15 - Vigan photoshoot and Filipino Terno Fashion show with designer Albert Andrada
Jan.16 - Governor's Ball with Chavit Singson in Manila
Jan.17 - Cebu (Swimsuit competition)
Jan.18 - Baguio photoshoot
Jan.19 - Candidates are split into three groups: Batangas, Iloilo and Davao
Jan.20 - Dinner event hosted by Solar Entertainment ay Manila Hotel
Jan.21 - Fashion show at SMX Manila
Jan.22 - Food Festival at Manila Hotel with Pia Wurtzbach and Women Empowerment Night
Jan.23 - Courtesy call to Malacañang Palace with Pres.Rodrigo Duterte and National Gift Auction
Jan.24 - National Costume Festival
Jan.25 and onwards - The candidates will have run-throughs that will end with dress rehearsals at SMX Manila on January 29
Jan.30 - Coronation at Mall of Asia Arena
