Here is some latest scoop on Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere. The beauty queen is all set to travel to Haiti. According to the reports, a private press briefing, to be held at the Hotel Habitation Jouissant in Cap-Haitien, will be hosted by Miss Universe Haiti Raquel Pelissier to welcome Iris Mittenaere.
Remember we told you how Iris dropped by the Smile Train Office to discuss her upcoming trip with the organisation? This is the upcoming trip that Iris is going to take with Smile Train. The press briefing will be reportedly held on 30th April 2017 at 7:00pm. Both Miss Universe and Miss Universe Haiti will be available for photos and interviews to talk about their partnership with Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft charity.
Iris’ schedule of events in Haiti will include visiting Smile Train’s local partners to learn more about the organization’s working and to meet the doctors who are on board helping treat cleft patients. This visit is part of a larger partnership between Smile Train and The Miss Universe Organization, since January 2016, to provide opportunities for the reigning Miss Universe, international and state titleholders to get involved with Smile Train’s global initiatives in the 85+ countries where the charity has helped children born with cleft lips and/or palates.
Iris will begin her work with Smile Train and will be visiting children who are undergoing cleft lip and palate surgeries. Iris is really excited for the trip as for the first time she will be able to witness the impact of these surgeries. Smile Train is the charity providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates. Smile Train was created in 1998 by Brian Mullaney and Charles Wang, who had previously worked with Operation Smile, another charity focused on correcting cleft lips and palates.
Iris has previously stated that she will be carrying forward former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach’s advocacy of spreading awareness on AIDS and working on the measures for curbing the incurable disease. Iris Mittenaere is currently in the final year of her dental studies. After finishing her degree in science at lycée, she moved back to her hometown in Lille and took up dentistry at the Lille 2 University of Health and Law. She is pursuing her dream of providing oral hygiene to hundreds of people.
