As reported to you previously about how 28 delegates of Miss Universe are off to Davao City for the Mindanao Tapestry Show, the fashion show was held last night at SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier in Davao City.
The event was about empowering women and the collection featured proud Mindanao tribeswomen whose weaving tradition dates back hundreds of years ago. The show was headed by fashion designer Renee Salud, who headed the show and expressed his gratitude for the show’s success. Renee also added that it’s a dream come true for him to see his collection on a global stage.

Initially, the event faced quite a lot of controversy as Davao Fashion and Design Council (DFDC) expressed disappointment over not being invited to dress the candidates for the show. However, a few days later it was announced that the event will still push through.

At the same event, a series of special awards were also awarded. Miss Philippines Maxine Medina was named Hiyas ng Phoenix. Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw bagged Miss Phoenix Smile, while Miss Venezuela Mariam Habach was awarded Miss Phoenix.
While some of the candidates were in Davao on January 19 for the fashion show, others visited Batangas with Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. Coming back to your opinion, who do you think managed to steal the limelight during the event? Who do you think will win the coveted Miss Universe 2016 title?
