Miss Universe pageant has seen its fair share of mistakes and controversies over the year. The one that stands out among the rest is the infamous incidence of the host Steve Harvey’s announcing the wrong winner in 2015 coronation night. Well, congratulations people, he managed to sail through the night this time without a fault!

At the time of the announcement of judge panel’s name, first who was announced was Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. While having a chat with her, Pia asked him, do you remember me, Steve?” To this he jokingly said, “How can I ever forget you? Everyone's waiting for the big moment at the end, to see if I get it right!"

“Just after the introduction was complete, Steve did not fail to mention, “Well, I got all those names right. See if I can keep these countries right now.”

It seems Steve can’t get over the 2015 goof-up. During the announcement of the top 16 contestants of the 2017 Miss Universe pageant, he called out the Oscars’ blunder for its similarity to his own blunder in 2015, when he announced Miss Universe Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as the winner, when it was supposed to be Miss Universe Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach.

"I'll tell you what I'm grateful for this Thanksgiving weekend. I'm grateful for the Oscars. 'Cause it let me off the hook," he joked. "So, you can sit here and act like you didn't see what Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway did, but it got me off the hook."The comedian continued, claiming his mistake was a little more understandable than the Moonlight/La La Land flub.

"Let me explain something to you: Moonlight doesn’t sound nothing like La La Land. Nothing," he added. "There wasn't but two movies to pick from, and they got it wrong. My mistake at least involved 80 other countries. That’s a good joke; you all can go ahead laugh all you want. I am the only one who’s tight right now!”

The witty 1st runner-up of the night, who is from Colombia, had a funny agenda for Steve, when her name was called in Top 16 finalists, standing with him, she asked him, “You wanted to see me right?” Of course, this poke came in the context of the 2015 fiasco. Steve replied heartily joking, “I am happy to see anybody from Colombia. God knows I am. Thank you, God for this moment.”

The winner of the gala night, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters also cracked a joke, when she talked about a constant question being asked to her on social media that whether she has a pet lion. She said, “The chances of me having a pet lion are I have a little dog, his name is Bengi. So, guys, it’s really safe in South Africa, you can come on safari anytime.”

How can we forget the moment when Maria Poonlertlarp from Thailand got nervous when her name was announced at first number in Top 16 finalists? This resulted in her accidentally calling the host ‘Harvey’ instead of Steve….twice! This error saw the twitter being blown with viewers calling her out for the error and making pretty funny memes.
