27 Nov 2017 | Srishti Jain

It was a moment of pride for Demi Leigh Nel Peters to get the crown of Miss Universe 2017 for South Africa for the second time ever. She came, she saw and she conquered the dazzling night with her wit and lure.

Just after her coveted crowning moment, she spoke to former Miss USA Olivia Jordan exclusively in her first ever interview. First to come for the interview was the going Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere, who expressed how excited she is about Demi winning the winning. Calling Demi her favourite from the beginning, she said that Demi is the sweetest girl, she loves her and that she is so happy that she crowned her. Iris hopes to be best friends with the new queen and also hopes to continue the sisterhood. Giving some tips to Demi, she said in a fun tone, “Try to sleep whenever you can and enjoy everything, take a lot of pictures for the souvenir.

Then came the moment of the new queen to come and give her first ever interview, and we have to say she was breath-taking as ever. Such a humble person, she seems completely at ease while smiling always. Complimenting Iris, she started by saying that, “She is so gorgeous; I can’t take her eyes off Iris, just always so elegant and classy.”

Olivia asked her the most awaited question, “You are Miss Universe 2017. How does that feel?”

Giggling to this question she said, “It feels in a way like, Oh my goodness, is this just dress rehearsal and then you realize not it’s not. So, I think it might really hit me tomorrow morning. It’s a childhood dream that has come true and I don’t think I can explain these feelings to anybody when you have worked basically your whole life for something and then you achieve it. You prove everybody who didn’t believe in you, wrong and you make everybody who believed in you since you were a little girl, proudly is indescribable.”

Well, believe or not, this South African exquisite beauty has come a long way from being a simple girl of Western Cape to winning the crown of Miss Universe 2017 and she holds all the reasons to be proud of her accomplishments.
