Catriona Gray gets honoured in the Senate of the Philippines

After her incredible homecoming and warm welcome, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray visited Senate of the Philippines on 26th February 2019 during a courtesy call to the Senate President Vicente Sotto III. Along with the Senate President, Senators Nancy Binay and Gringo Honasan also joined in to give a warm welcome to the reigning Miss Universe.

In a short ceremony held on Tuesday, the 25-years-old received resolution recognising her contribution and congratulating her for winning the coveted title of Miss Universe 2018 which held last December at IMPACT Arena, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand. Senator Sotto expressed that Catriona’s winning of the most coveted Miss Universe bestows great honour, glory and recognition to all Filipinos and deserves honour and respect for her praiseworthy and sincere efforts.

In response to this honour, the Filipino-Australian beauty promised to continue to hold Filipinos and at an elevated standard to an international audience. She vowed to be successful in championing her advocacies and asked for persistent support to empower young Filipino who can later give back to their communities.

During her visit, Catriona took time to click photographs with people who work in the Senate. She expressed her sincere gratitude to all the people of the Philippines and dedicated her win to all. By securing the crown she became the fourth Filipina to bring back the Miss Universe crown back home. Earlier this coveted title was held by Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margarita Moran in 1973 and Pia Wurtzbach in 2015.
