Catriona Gray is a timeless name in the pageant world, one of the most loved faces of all time! The queen turned 28 today. Let’s get to know our Miss Universe 2018 a little better and wish her a happy birthday as true pageant fanatics.

Here are some interesting facts about Catriona –

Catriona Gray was crowned Miss Universe 2018 on 18th March 2018 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines.

She is the fourth Filipina to win the Miss Universe competition. Before her, Gloria Diaz won the crown in 1969 and Margie Moran and Pia Wurtzbach won the Miss Universe title in 1973 and 2015 respectively.

The queen is no different than the rest of us and loves Beyoncé and says every time she sees her, she feels inspired by her work ethic, and how she constantly keeps evolving as an artist.

Her favourite food is anything Japanese, and second to that, Thai or Vietnamese food.

Catriona is passionate about singing.

 

 

She used to be a part of choir and jazz bands growing up.

You can find her latest single ‘Love Language’ on YouTube. It was released on 19th November 2021.

She is extremely creative by nature and said, “Dream job would be anything allows you to be creative,” in an interview in 2020, on being asked upon her idea of a dream job.

The queen has a terrific fan following of 12.8 million people on her Instagram handle.

Catriona placed in the top five of the Miss World in 2016.

After renting places for over a decade, the queen finally bought a condo in November last year. So inspiring!

She featured in Michael Cinco Fall-Winter 2022 collection in December last year.

Catriona launched her own academy by the name ‘The Catriona Gray Academy’ in the summer of 2021. It offers ‘How to be a Queen’ course by Gray herself and aims to help participants speak their mind, overcome their insecurities, build confidence and finally help them become the queen they aspire to be.

 

 

Catriona starred in the music video ‘We’re in this Together’ written by Marcus David and produced by Young Focus International. Her single was at the Top on iTunes, Spotify, and other digital platforms, at that time. This was Gray’s first original song in partnership with Young Focus and its students to raise awareness for the need of education for the underprivileged youth.

She deeply values her Filipino routes.

Catriona has advocated for various causes, HIV, access to education for all, cleft lip surgeries, free mask distribution amidst the pandemic, to name a few. She volunteers with a whole heart and is empathetic by nature.

She is the only child of a Scottish-born Australian father, Ian Gray, and a Filipino mother, Normita Magnayon, and the three are a very close-knit family.

Catriona moved to the Philippines in 2011 and pursued her career as a commercial model.

Gray was born on 6th of January in 1994.

She received her degree in music theory from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

She was born in Cairns, Australia.

She is parent to two cute furballs, Bailey and Theo.

On 2 October 2016, Gray was crowned Miss World Philippines 2016 where she won the Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown, Best in Fashion Runway and Best in Talent special awards.

Her nickname is Cat.

She released her own book ‘Conquering the Universe’, in a contract with ABS-CBN’s publishing, inspired by her journey and the lessons she learnt along the way to becoming a queen.

On 11 July 2021, Gray and Nicole Cordoves co-hosted Binibining Pilipinas 2021 becoming the first class of all female hosts in the history of the national competition.

The diva has a love for gardening.

On 6 September 2020, Gray became the newest ambassador of Philippine Red Cross during the COVID-19 pandemic.
