Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has reached out to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in identifying the people behind a supposed photoshopped topless photo of her that has been making the rounds in social media.
Recently, an alleged topless picture of the queen was circulating around the social media over the weekend after which Catriona’s lawyer released a statement stating that the picture that is circulating is not the queen but it is photoshopped and fake. “We want to inform the public that the photo is fake and digitally altered,” her lawyer Joji Alonso said in a statement.
Gray’s legal counsel said that they are actively coordinating with authorities to hold whoever is “behind this scheme” accountable so that they can ‘face penal sanctions accordingly.’ “We will likewise take legal action against those involved in the manufacture and publication of the said photo,” Alonso warned.
While the NBI spokesman Nick Suarez confirmed to the media that the beauty queen will arrive at the NBI Tuesday afternoon in order to find out the alleged uploader of the sham picture of her. The beauty queen also confirmed that her legal team will take necessary legal actions against those behind the shared “fake” photo.
Catriona’s photos circulated online just a few days after her former boyfriend, Filipino-German model Clint Bondad wrote several perplexing social media posts which many believed alluded to the beauty queen and her current flame, actor Sam Milby. The series of cryptic Instagram stories included a message that Bonadad sent to Milby asking him for a “little chat.” While the latter has stuck by her lady love and vowed to be there for her always and will do anything in his power to protect her.
Recently, the queen was named as the ambassador of Philippines’ One Town One Product (OTOP) Program. She uploaded a picture of her on her social media with holding the honor and mentioning that through this initiative, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will bring in the much-needed attention to the Modernong Obra Disenyong Atin (MODA). Catriona’s job is to promote Philippine textiles and modern designs, and collaborating with local designers to promote entrepreneurship and help the weaver communities expand their market.
Addressing the photoshopped matter, Catrion only stated, “Me and my team are taking the actions that we need to address the issue at hand.” Catriona has also released her new debut single with Sam Milby; “We’re in This Together” on her YouTube channel which has received one million views in 48 hours.
