Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization recently announced that there will be no national pageant this year and the coronation ceremony of Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 has been postponed till 24th September 2020 due to coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak in the country. The news was confirmed by Denise Quiñones, director of the franchise, and Clark Ivor, image director.
With the organization trying to figure out which way to go adhering to the Miss Universe rules, Estefani´a Soto Torres, first runner-up Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2019, might be getting the chance to represent Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2020. She is 27-years-old and stands 180 cm tall and represented the province of San Sebastián at the competition.
Estefanía has a master's degree in intercultural mediation from the University of Leuven in Belgium. For the past 2 years she has worked for a European organization in Brussels and for the French Embassy in Washington DC. She is determined to represent the country at Miss Universe stage and if she gets appointed by the organization, she will dedicate herself completely in order to win the title for the country this year. She is a beauty queen who is also trilingual (English, Spanish, and French), loves cultural diversity, and in her spare time she practices black and white photography.
On asking about what motivated her to be a beauty queen, Estefanía stated that she wanted to re-connect with her passion which is modeling and she also wanted to give herself an opportunity to celebrate her femininity. She mentioned that she understands that beauty pageants are considered as vain but she sees them as empowering and a place where an individual can have incredible experiences for their future.
“Regardless of the fact that I am in a world of 'superficial' beauty, I am giving myself the opportunity to understand the value of everything I have achieved so far as a professional. But it is now or never because there is an age that limits you to compete,” she added.
Estefanía tries to maximize her potential as a human being by living a life outside her comfort zone. In addition to working in a multicultural context and becoming an agent of change, Estefanía hopes to become the next representative of Puerto Rican women and if she gets appointed by the Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization as the new representative, she will be able to carry on her purpose to inspire and motivate people to do good.
The diva has been very grateful for all the opportunities she has received till now through which she has emerged as a stronger, and a confident woman who is able to take a stand not only for herself but for every woman in the country. She has worked hard, and stayed focused towards her dream of being a successful and positive role model for the people in Puerto Rico and maybe this is her chance to prove them right.
Estefanía’s beauty, confidence and intelligence are her three strong pillars as a model and a woman who could be appointed to represent the country at Miss Universe 2020 stage. She is very particular about her health and diet and works on her walk, body confidence, and communication for the future pageants or assignments. In our opinion, she has what it takes to represent her country with sincerity and dedication at international stages as well.
