The Miss Universe finale saw the Top 3 finalists answer the same question and their answers were set to determine who would take home the crown and who would come to the runner-ups to the winner. Each of them had just 45 seconds to respond.
The question they were asked was, “What is the most important lesson you have learnt in your life and how would you apply it to your time as Miss Universe?”
Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Elsa Magnayon Gray
Catriona looked very confident while giving her answer, and she started by saying that she has worked a lot on the slum areas of Manila, and she found that the life there is of very poor quality and sad. She then went on to say that she has taught herself to look at the beauty of everything and to look for the beauty in the faces of children and be great. Catriona ended her speech by saying that she would be happy to bring in this aspect as Miss universe to see situations with a silver lining and to access where she could give and provide something like a spokesperson and, she thinks, if she should teach people to be grateful, and negativity would not be able to grow and foster and children would always have a smile on their faces.
Miss Universe South Africa 2018 Tamaryn Green
Tamaryn started her answer by saying that throughout her life she has seen people from both privileged and underprivileged backgrounds and she has understood that we are all humans who want to loved, heard and seen so we should simply treat each other that way. Tamaryn’s answer was simple and to the point and spoke in depth about how she would apply her learnings as a Miss Universe.
Miss Universe Venezuela 2018 Sthefany Gutierrez
Sthefany started her and were by saying that she grew up in a family filled with women and each one of them taught her something really important. She then continued by saying that the most important lesson she has learnt is working hard and chasing after one’s dreams. She then ended her answer by saying that by having courage and strength and willingness to achieve these dreams one can achieve anything they want in their lifetime and tonight she is proving this by being here on the stage on Miss Universe.
