The finale of Miss Universe 2018 was a grand event and the finale saw a lot of segments where the contestants had to answer difficult questions which would determine their chances of becoming the next Miss Universe.

The Top 10 contestants were reduced to the Top 5 finalists and they had to answer a question each in under 30 seconds, which would determine who would proceed to become the Top 3 finalists of Miss Universe 2018 and ultimately win the crown. The questions were posed by the contestants of Miss Universe 2018.

Following are the Top 5 delegates and their answers -

Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2018 Kiara Liz Ortega Delgado

Question: Hundreds of journalists across the world were jailed this year for writing stories that were critical of their government. Why is freedom of the press important?

Answer: The job of the press is to inform us and give us news about what is happening around the world. They must have total freedom to report what is happening around the world without forgetting that they should have sympathy towards different people who are facing different problems around the world.

Miss Universe Vietnam 2018 Hhen Nie

Question: The “Me Too” Movement has sparked a global conversation. In response, some have said that the world has become too politically correct. Do you think that the “Me Too” Movement has gone too far?

Answer: Hhen Nie said that she does not think that the movement has gone too far as protecting women and women’s rights is the right thing to do as women need the protection and most importantly their rights.

Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Elsa Magnayon Gray

Question: Canada joined Uruguay to become the second ever country to make marijuana legal. What is your opinion on the legalisation of marijuana?

Answer: Catriona said that she is for its use when it comes to medicinal purposes, but not so much when it comes to recreational reasons because when people argue about alcohol and cigarettes, everything is good, but only in moderation.

Miss Universe South Africa 2018 Tamaryn Green

Question: Many countries around the world are seeing an increase in immigration. Do you think countries should limit the number of refugees allowed across the borders?

Answer: Tamaryn said that she things every country should have their own rules and regulations, but for a thriving society, all of us have to stand together and understand that we are all humans. She then continued by saying that we are all more alike than we are not, so we should be open to loving each other and accepting each other, doesn’t matter where we come from.

Miss Universe Venezuela 2018 Sthefany Gutierrez

Question: What would you say to someone who says that pageants are archaic and against the feminist movement?

Answer: Sthefany said that now are living in an era where we have advanced greatly. She then continued by saying that beauty pageants are not just about beauty, but also sensitivity and having a heart. She ended her speech saying in beauty pageants we can show that women like me can achieve any dreams we may have in the world.
