Since the pandemic has obligated everyone to take a rest from their busy work lives, the beauty queens have stepped up for doing their bit and advocate people and their fans across the globe about the safety measures to stay safe during the outbreak. One of the safety measures that WHO has recommended is the social distancing and Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi along with Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst have been living in their New York apartment and practicing the same.

While the world is dealing with a standstill in their lives, everyone is looking for something productive to engage themselves and our queens aren’t any different. Some have been sharing their home-made recipes, workout videos, preparation for the future pageant tips and some are just taking some time off and spending time with their loved ones.

In the amidst of all this, Zozibini is focusing on her advocacy which is about Gender Equality and with the help of social media, wants to reach out to people across the globe. She recently shared a video where she first jokingly mentioned that she always knew that her reign would be unique but she never expected the mother nature to put a halt onto everything. She later thanked everyone who are working very hard and dedicatedly to make things for people safer and better. She also especially mentioned a special thank you for the people who have decided to put their work at rest and stay at home so that doctors can do their job.

Zozibini started to talk about her advocacy which focuses on Gender Equality and Women taking Space. She explained that since we are fortunate to live in digital age; she will be using the digital platform to advocate about the women who are helping in such tough times and have been working hard to make a name for themselves in the world. She stated that in coming days, she will be sharing about the work her team and she has been doing for creating awareness for Gender Equality and for empowering women.

Zozibini also mentioned that she’s thrileed to receive so many messages across the globe from fans under #UniverseUnited where they have been sharing the things people have been doing during social distancing.

When Zozibini Tunzi participated in Miss South Africa 2019, she aspired to inspire girls who look like her to stand up for themselves and their dreams. She has always mentioned that “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair was never considered beautiful.” During the finale night of Miss Universe 2019, the finalists were asked “What according to them is the most important thing society should be teaching young girls today?”

Zozibini answered, "I think the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. It's something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time, not because we don't want to, but because of what society has labelled women to be. I think we are the most powerful beings in the world and that we should be given every opportunity. We should be teaching young girls to take up space."

Zozi’s answer won many hearts and applauds that night because just like her, every woman in the world wants to empower the status of women in the society. Since her crowning, she has been working relentlessly to make sure her voice reaches out to the core of the countries where women are not allowed to follow their passion and dreams. Zozibini wants to be a voice to those voiceless women who are told that they don’t have a future.

So, even in such tough times, Zozibini has kept herself productive and motivated throughout and doing her best to support and voice out to the ones who are feeling down or low because of the social distancing. We look forward to her new videos soon where she will be sharing works done by some amazing women during the pandemic and prior to that to empower the status of women in society.
