Tunzi took to her social media to share the good news with her fans and expressed, “I am so honored and excited to announce that I have been cast for the film, The Woman King. It is a completely new world and first time experience for me so I enter it with the utmost respect and humility. Forever grateful and looking forward.”

Following the footsteps of Gal Gadot? Gadot was crowned as Miss Israel in 2004 and has since carved a name for herself in the American film industry with her acting and sharp looks.

Besides the South African beauty queen, the historical drama will also star Jimmy Odukoya, Thando Dlomo, Jordan Bolger, Thuso Mbedu and John Boyega. Alongside Viola Davis, who is the recipient of an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Tony Awards, the cast will also see one of the most influential music personalities of all time, four-time Grammy awardee Angelique Kidjo.

The story is set around the Dahomey’s women warriors, an all-female military unit, led by Nanisca (Viola Davis) and Nawi (Thuso Mbedu), who joins in as an ambitious recruit. The duo then sets out to fight enemies who violated their honor, enslaved their people, and threatened to destroy everything they had lived for.

The warrior epic will hit the theatres on 16th September, 2022. Mark your calendars!
