The 70th edition of Miss Universe pageant, Miss Universe 2021, is set to be held on 12th December 2021 in Eilat, Israel where Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

The delegates are in the last leg of pre pageant activities and are already done with the head to head challenge and judge’s interview round and next up is the much watched out for, national costume round, set to be held today at 7 PM (local time).

Curaçao revealed the national costume ‘Blaze - The Fire Coral’ for today’s preliminary competition. The introductory video for the outfit was shot at Director’s Bay, Curaçao’s beautiful beach that attracts many locals and tourists for its rich underwater life and is home to incredible species and coral reefs, including the fire coral. Ocean acidification has put this beach, as well as many other Curaçao treasures, under jeopardy.

The costume is designed by Jorge Salazar and represents not only the rich and vivid sea life of the country but also calls attention to its susceptibility to global warming.” I also want to take the opportunity to showcase the intense fire that blazes through the veins of the people of Curaçao that surpassed the difficult times of the past years that have affected not only my country but everyone in the entire world,” explains Shariëngela Cijntje, who is to don this outfit today representing her country.

Shariëngela Cijntje advocated against climate change during her final question at Miss Curaçao 2021 too and wants to take her voice forward by using it at such a big stage as Miss Universe which is all about amplification and bringing rightful attention to prevalent issues.
