The Preliminary Competition of 71st Miss Universe was held tonight, i.e. Wednesday, 11th January 2022 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in Louisiana, USA. The contestants paraded in their opening dresses, evening gowns, and swimsuits in front of the judges before the finale night beckons.
After the introduction and swimsuit competition, the most important part of the night happened – the evening gown competition. The much – awaited show saw the contestants walk on the stage in their beautiful gowns oozing elegance and grace.
While all the delegates showed tremendous potential, here are our favourites from the Evening Gown competition of Preliminary Competition for Miss Universe 2022 (in no particular order) –
Celeste Cortesi Miss Universe Philippines 2022
Celeste Cortesi was definitely one of the stars of the night; she rocked the swimsuit as well as the evening gown preliminary competition. Designed by Oliver Tolentino, Celeste’s sky blue evening gown was true to her name.
Ngoc Chau Miss Universe Vietnam 2022
Ngoc Chau walked the stage wearing her evening gown called ‘Butterfly Effect’ - the magical beauty of butterflies combined with Lotus Walk’s catwalk steps. She looked absolutely mesmerizing on the stage.
Divita Rai Miss Universe India 2022
India has made a powerful impact this year at Miss Universe 2022; Divita performed exceedingly well at the preliminaries and at the evening gown competition as well, Divita looked absolutely stunning. Designed by Falguni Shane Peacock India, Divita was another strong contender at the competition.
R’Bonney Nola Miss Universe USA 2022
R’Bonney Nola’s gown was different; however, it did not stop her from looking absolutely stunning. With her hair tied in a bun, USA’s representative impressed us with her confident walk and grace.
Evlin Khalifa Miss Universe Bahrain 2022
Evlin Khalifa was another contestant who outshined at the preliminary competition. Designed by Furne Omato, the Hijabi gown was one of a kind. Evlin has shown how strong she is time and again with her strong performance and she will be one of the strong ones to look out for at the finale.
Solaria Barba Miss Universe Panama 2022
Solaria Barba impressed the audience in her sleeveless high slit silver glittering gown. Although her gown was simple, it oozed elegance and Solaris’ smile definitely helped. She rocked the evening gown competition this year.
Ona Moody Miss Universe Netherlands 2022
Ona Moody was a surprise package at the preliminaries; she gave a decent performance at the swimsuit competition but she rocked her evening gown. Perfectly complementing her figure and height, Ona was a sight to behold.
Montana Onose Felix Miss Universe Nigeria 2022
Montana was the epitome of beauty in her stunning Estaz designed evening gown. She has proven her worth throughout the competition and her hardwork showed at the preliminary competition. Another strong contender to look out for!
Yasmina Zaytoun Miss Universe Lebanon 2022
Lebanon was another surprise package at the preliminaries; the Charbel Zoe custome made evening gown was Iconic. Yasmina has established herself as another strong contender this year. This could very well be the year of LEBANON!
Roksana Ibrahimi Miss Universe Kosovo 2022
Roksana Ibrahimi looked absolutely stunning in a gold embellished long gown with a cape-neck attached to the gown. She was a sight to behold and impressed us with her graceful walk.

Miss Universe 2022, the 71st Miss Universe pageant, will be held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States on 14th January 2023. Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
