The Preliminary Competition of 71st Miss Universe was held tonight, i.e. Wednesday, 11th January 2022 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in Louisiana, USA. The contestants paraded in their opening dresses, evening gowns, and swimsuits in front of the judges before the finale night beckons.
After the introduction and swimsuit competition, the most important part of the night happened – the evening gown competition. The much – awaited show saw the contestants walk on the stage in their beautiful gowns oozing elegance and grace.
While all the delegates showed tremendous potential, here are our favourites from the Evening Gown competition of Preliminary Competition for Miss Universe 2022 (in no particular order) –
Laksmi De-Neefe Suardana Miss Universe Indonesia 2022
Laksmi wore ‘The Waterfall Gown’ at the preliminary evening gown competition. The Waterfall Gown is a symbol of the dazzling beauty, purity and energy of water. The gown is made of luxurious embellished fabric in shades of soft pearly blues and oyster grey and falls to the ground in a shimmering cascade of light, like a graceful waterfall.
Anna Sueangam-iam Miss Universe Thailand 2022
Anna Sueangam-iam’s evening gown is called ‘Hidden Precious Diamond Dress’. Meticulously created from used aluminium pull-tabs of drink cans and Swarovki combined, this unique upcycled dress designed by “MANIRAT” is at its most promptness to be found on the universal stage. Anna surely looked absolutely mesmerizing at the preliminaries.
Ashley Cariño Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2022
Ashley Cariño conquered the catwalk at the Miss Universe 2022 preliminary gala with an impressive dress made by Puerto Rican designer Carlos Alberto.
Alessia Rovegno Miss Universe Peru 2022
Alessia Rovegno made sure all eyes were on her in the Augusto Manzanares creation as she looked absolutely stunning and impressed everyone with her walk. She will be another strong contender to look out for this year!
Soraya Kohlmann Miss Universe Germany 2022
Germany has emerged as a strong contender for the Miss Universe 2022 crown. At the evening gown round as well, Soraya walked with confidence and grace. Her evening gown was classic and enhanced her beauty.
Floriane Bascou Miss Universe France 2022
France came out strong at the evening gown competition with Floriane’s performance. She absolutely rocked the elegant while gown.
Amelia Tu Miss Universe Canada 2022
Amelia Tu emerged strong at the preliminaries as well; her evening gown look was elegant and strong. Canada could be in the race to win the crown with that performance for sure.
Manita Hang Miss Universe Cambodia 2022
Manita’s evening gown was titled ‘Untangled Dream’. The inspiration of the gown is very close to the heart of the Cambodian people. The cut is a mixture of tailored suit and fluidity of the beaded sheer flair skirt. The colors purple and blue represents royalty and serenity. Manita did justice to the evening gown with her performance.
Ashley Lightburn Miss Universe Belize 2022
Ashley Lightburn rocked the gold Xavier Rojas creation as she walked one the stage with confidence. Ashley looked like a regal beauty and definitely emerged as a strong contender this year.
Monique Riley Miss Universe Australia 2022
Monique Riley wore a Allele Cal creation at the evening gown competition. The designer’s thought behind the creations was to create a armour-like gown using mirrored crystals to insinuate how strong Monique is as a contestant and as a person, with recognition to her dedication to her fitness.
Miss Universe 2022, the 71st Miss Universe pageant, will be held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States on 14th January 2023. Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
