Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua crowned Miss Universe 2023

 

The historic 72nd edition of Miss Universe was held tonight, i.e. 18th November 2023 at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador where Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was crowned as Miss Universe 2023. Sheynnis succeeds and was crowned by Miss Universe 2022 Rbonney Gabriel.

Nicaragua created history this year by winning its first ever Miss Universe crown. Sheynnis Palacios is 23 years of age and a communications graduate and television host. In 2022, she graduated from the Universidad Centroamericana in Managua with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. A pageant veteran in her country, Palacios is surely the perfect queen for the crown.

The newly crowned Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios’ court included –

1st Runner-up – Anntonia Porsild of Thailand

2nd Runner-up – Moraya Wilson of Australia

Top 5 also included Camila Avella representing Colombia and Karla Guilfu representing Puerto Rico while Top 10 also included Isabella Garcia-Manzo representing El Salvador, Camila Escribens representing Peru, Michelle Dee representing Philippines, Athenea Perez representing Spain and Diana Silva representing Venezuela.

Top 20 also included Issie Princesse representing Cameroon, Celeste Viel representing Chile, Shweta Sharda representing India, Jordanne Levy representing Jamaica, Jameela Uiras representing Namibia, Jane Garrett representing Nepal, Erica Robin representing Pakistan, Marina Machete representing Portugal, Bryoni Govender representing South Africa and Noelia Voigt representing USA.

Also at the finale, a number of special awards were announced; Spain’s Athenea Perez won Miss Congeniality, Philippines’ Michelle Dee won Spirit of the Carnival award. The Voice for Change ‘Gold Winners’ included Ana Coimbra from Angola, Michelle Dee from Philippines and Karla Guilfu from Puerto Rico.

The jury responsible for crowning the new Miss Universe included Halima Aden – Somali-American model, Mario Bautista – Mexican singer, Giselle Blondet – Puerto Rican actress and television host, Janelle Commissiong – Miss Universe 1977 from Trinidad and Tobago, Nadia Ferreira – Paraguayan model, Miss Universe Paraguay 2021 and Miss Universe 2021 1st runner-up, Avani Gregg – American social media personality, Carson Kressley – American actor, designer and television personality, Connie Mariano – Filipino-American physician, Iris Mittenaere – Miss Universe 2016 from France, Sweta Patel – Vice President of Growth Marketing and Merchandising at Roku and Denise White – American businesswoman and Miss Oregon USA 1994.
