Maria Brechane of Rio Grande do Sul was crowned Miss Universo Brasil 2023, aka Miss Universe Brazil 2023 on Saturday, 8th July 2023 at Pátio Welucci in São Paulo. Maria became the official representative of Brazil at Miss Universe 2023.

Maria bested 26 other competitors to win the national crown. The 19-year-old Brazilian beauty is a model and actress. Currently, she is a journalism student representing Rio Grande do Sul. Maria succeeds Miss Universe Brazil 2022 Mia Mamede from Vitória, Espírito Santo.

Maria has also practiced different sports and works in several areas including surfing, playing beach tennis, volleyball, handball and dancing. The beauty queen has been linked to social projects for years. In August last year, she launched an initiative ‘Worshiping What Is Ours’. She gives lectures in several schools to talk about the history, culture and tradition of her city.

Maria had also been preparing for the competition for two years. “I see that I need to prove myself more than other candidates for being only 19 years old, but that doesn't interfere. I have always studied a lot and two years ago it intensified even more”, she quoted.

Also at the finale, Bárbara Reis of Mato Grosso and Vitória Brodt of São Paulo were adjudged as the first and second runners-up, respectively. Top 7 finalists also represented Amazonas, Alice Casanova, Goiás, Renata Guerra, Pará, Milena Gomes, and Sergipe, Gabriela Botelho.
