Cambodia’s Sarita Reth to wear ‘The Khmer Puppet’ inspired national costume at Miss Universe

Miss Universe Organization announced that the 69th edition of Miss Universe i.e., Miss Universe 2020 will be held on 16th May 2021 in the United States. The pageant will be aired live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in more than 160 territories and countries across the globe. The event was supposed to take place from fall/winter 2020 but was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa will crown her successor at the end of the show.

Sarita Reth is representing the country of Cambodia at the competition and just a few hours ago, the organization showcased the final national costume of the diva that she will put on and grace the beauty competition. Explaining the costume Miss Universe Cambodia organization with Siem Reap based designer Bora Apsara Barbie stated that Kingdom of Cambodia, with its rich heritage in culture and tradition, history, and civilization, has valuable art forms worthy of preservation, recognition, and appreciation. The older generation of Cambodia handcrafted the well beaded cloth and silk woven dresses that showcased artistic, religious, and historical paintings, and trained in puppet and shadow dances, all these and more are Unique Khmer Tradition. Until the Khmer Rouge Regime almost destroyed it all, leaving only memories to ponder.
