Maria Camila Avella Montañez, representing Casanare, was crowned Miss Universe Colombia 2023 on 2nd September 2023 at Centro de Eventos del Caribe in Puerta de Oro, Barranquilla. She made history as she became the first ever mother and married woman to be crowned Miss Universe Colombia 2023.

Camila is 28 years of age and a model, content creator, and TV host. Camila tried her luck at Miss Universe Colombia in 2018 but could not win. With the changes in the MUO, Camila is definitely ready to make her mark as a married woman and mother to win the Miss Universe crown.

As for the advocacy, Maria is the international ambassador of ‘Yo Vivo en El Amor’ as the objective is to improve the world through education based on love, both in children and adults, promoting a future full of love and consciousness.

“The primary mission of the "Yo Vivo en el Amor" Foundation is to collaborate with government educational entities in the United States, throughout Latin America and where necessary, to include three vital elements in education: self-esteem, sexual education (where not still exists) and guidance to discover the individual talents of each child. In addition, it seeks to raise awareness in homes about the importance of providing love to children, educating with patience and promoting self-love”, she quotes.

Camila is ready to depart for Miss Universe 2023, the 72nd edition of Miss Universe, which will be held in El Salvador on 18th November 2023 where Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel of USA will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
