Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres was diagnosed with skin cancer (Melanoma) in February 2019 as she shared her journey on social media because she wanted to spread awareness of the disease. With almost a year of strong determination and fight, Dayanara has now shared with everyone that she could be free of the disease soon as her treatment will probably end by March, if all goes well.

For the 45-year-old beauty queen, a lot of good news came in together as she continues her treatment for metastatic melanoma. Along with her recovering health, Dayanara will be back on TV as a judge on the new season of Univision’s ‘Mira Quién Baila All Stars’ (MQBAS).

Dayanara was just coming out from a world where she was with her children to work again in 2019 as she learnt she had cancer. She said, “Suddenly, I find out I have cancer and that I need to start the treatment, I am still going through it. But thank God I will be finishing in March. I hope all is negative in the last three tests.”

The primary reason Dayanara went public with her disease was to help others who may be at risk. She also suggested, “skin checks are something you can do at home in front your mirror, and they can play a crucial role in early detection.” Now that she will be able to come back to TV, Dayanara will resume with her responsibilities and spread awareness about early detection of the disease. Angelopedia wishes her a speedy recovery!
