Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov, on Sunday, announced that Israel will be hosting the 70th edition of Miss Universe as per schedule after imposing travel restrictions due to Omicron strain of coronavirus variant.

He also announced that the participants in the contest will be granted waivers from the curbs while possibly being asked to go with a PCR testing every 48 hours and other precautionary measures.

Miss Universe 2021 will be held on 12th December 2021 in Eilat where almost eighty contestants will compete for the international competition. At the end of the event finale, Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

Israel announced on Saturday that it was banning the entry of foreigners into the country. Razvozov explained, “This is an event that will be broadcast in 174 countries, a very important event, an event that Eilat, too, is very much in need of. We will know how to manage this event. So, by using the waivers committee, we will have events like this, to which the country already committed itself and which we cannot cancel."
