Indonesia will witness a new era in Miss Universe from this year as the national franchise for the pageant now belongs to a new company. The franchise was previously held by Puteri Indonesia and now will be under Jakarta-based PT Capella Swastika Karya.

With all the changes being made under the new ownership of JKN Global Group, Indonesia will also see a new format of changes with this separate organization who will crown Indonesia’s representative to Miss Universe 2023.

Under the new leadership for Miss Universe Indonesia, Indonesian singer and actress Poppy Capellaa will serve as its chairwoman. AVUE Chief Executive Officer Eldwen Wang will serve as the national director while Safa Attamimi will serve as the chief operating officer and fashion stylist Niel Dimitrij as project director.

The National directors were given until Friday's deadline to bid for their licenses, or else someone with the highest offer was supposed to take over. Under Puteri Indonesia, Indonesia managed to win eight placements at Miss Universe since 2005. Frederika Alexis Cull competed in Miss Universe 2019 and finished in Top 10 which was the highest placement.

Puteri Indonesia 2022 Laksmi De Neefe Suardana has now became the last Puteri Indonesia winner to be sent to Miss Universe. The winner of Miss Universe Indonesia 2023 will represent Indonesia at Miss Universe 2023 and become the first titleholder under this new organization.
