Miss Universe 2017 pageant is a platform to show a women’s beauty in every way possible, but Sarah Idan from Iran had to face an ugly time recently when she received death threats against her family members from her relatives, due to her bikini photos in Miss Universe 2017.

Immediately this news elicited the Miss Universe Organization to remove all photos of hers in bikini wear on their official press site. Not only that, but Sarah is now going to adorn a one-piece swimsuit on the finale night of Miss Universe 2017 to avoid any kind of controversy or danger to her family’s lives. She also received a lot of criticism from the Iraq natives on social media due to these photos.

This is not the first time that Sarah has faced such criticism in Miss Universe 2017. Earlier last week her fans and Iraqis got frenzy on social media when one photo of hers with Miss Israel 2017 Adar Gandelsman surfaced on Instagram. It’s a very common known fact that Israel and Iran do not share diplomatic relationships, and the photo didn’t sit well with the natives of both the countries’ natives.

Explaining her actions as a positive gesture of peace, harmony and hope in the world, she said “This picture doesn’t mean I support the Israeli government or its policies toward Arab countries. I apologize to everyone who saw it as an insult to the Palestinian cause — this was not its purpose.” She further added, “She asked for a photo and I agreed, saying that I too hoped for peace and wanted to help pass on the message.”

Idan, 27, said Miss Universe Isreal 2017 Adar told her “she hopes that one day there will be peace between the two religions (Judaism and Islam) and that her children will not have to do military service.”

This comes as a shock to many that a picture whether with a fellow contestant or in context to her clothing like bikini wear can elicit such an outrage among people. Though a ray of hope can be seen as her photo has been greeted with more than 4,600 ‘likes’.

This simple yet elegant girl comes from a small and middle-of-the-road southern region of Middle Euphrates, Baghdad. An independent girl at heart, she started working at the age of 18 years as a linguistic with the US military, helping her people and the US Government reducing the gap between the two cultures, which granted her a moderate knowledge in dealing with a diverse background.

Iraq is returning to Miss Universe pageant this year after a gap of 45 years, last competing in 1972. We believe that even between all the criticism and controversies, Sarah is an individual with a go-getter attitude and she will revert through her amazing performance in Miss Universe 2017.
