Marybelen Sakamoto crowned Miss Universe Japan 2022

The finale of Miss Universe Japan 2022 was held last night, i.e. 25th August 2022 in Tokyo where Marybelen Sakamoto was crowned the new queen. Marybelen will now represent Japan at Miss Universe 2022.

Marybelen Sakamoto is 23 years of age. She bested 30 other finalists to win her national title. The stunning beauty hails from Chiba, Japan. She speaks Japanese, Spanish and English. Marybelen is of Peruvian-Japanese heritage.

 

 

Also at the end of the event finale, Saria Oikawa and Megumi Wilson were adjudged first and second runners-up respectively while Kozue Kanzaki and Aska Taira completed the Top 5.

Miss Universe Japan 2021 Juri Watanabe took her final farewell walk as she crowned Marybelen as her successor at the end of the event finale. Juri represented Japan at Miss Universe 2021 who placed in the Top 16.

 

 

Hiroko Mima, who placed in the Top 15 at Miss Universe 2008, has been running the Miss Universe Japan competition as its national director since 2018. Since its debut at the Miss Universe pageant in 1952, Japan has won two Miss Universe editions with Akiko Kojima in 1959 and Riyo Mori in 2007.
