The Miss Universe Malaysia organization has recently announced the competition timeline for the 2022 pageant and have also revealed that they will be announcing more details at each stage as it gets closer. Returning after a gap year, Malaysia is all set to crown a new queen to represent the country at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant.

The pageant will host the final auditions in the month of March, followed by the photo-shoot and interview of the shortlisted candidates. The organization will also host the press conference for the Top 18 finalists within the same month.

The Boot-Camp week will be held in April and the official pageant week will take place in June along with the grand Gala night. This year’s winner will succeed Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 Francisca Luhong James, who represented the country at 69th Miss Universe.

Last year, the organization did not host any national pageant due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The organization stated limited international and domestic travel had hindered the staging of the pageant. Many people were critical of the decision, but it also worried many pageant lovers and followers.

During the same announcement last year, Elaine Daly, National Director of Miss Universe Malaysia had shared that the selection of Miss Universe Malaysia 2021 will be brought forward to the next following year, 2022.

At the Miss Universe 2020 pageant, Francisca made it through the preliminary rounds however did not make it to the Top 21.The country has been a top achiever for the Asian continent at international pageants over years, especially Miss Universe.
