The coronation night of Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 was held on Friday, 7th October 2022 at the M Resort & Hotel in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur where Cheam Wei Yeng (Lesley) was crowned the new queen as she became the official representative of Malaysia at Miss Universe 2022. She succeeds Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 Francisca Luhong James.

Lesley Cheam is 26 years of age who hails from Selangor. She is a pharmaceutical and health science graduate and an assistant manager and a multilingual host. The newly crowned Miss Universe Malaysia also bagged the Miss Radiant Confidence and Miss Schwarzkopf Most Beautiful Hair awards. Lesley wants to use her pageant platform to raise awareness on mental health issues.

Also at the end of the event finale, Ajunee Simreet Kaur Khangura and Tee Wan Ying were adjudged as the first and second runners-up respectively. Top 8 finalists also included Annatasha Shanty Jeremiah (Asha), Joann Tiong Hau Ping (Joann), Catherine Lai Hui Yi (Kate), Kaverrna Nair Sukumaran (Kaverrna), and Wong Siu Jane (Siu Jane).

The panel of jury consists of Kenny Yee – Founder of Make Up Miracle & Beauty Workshop, Datin Selwin Kaur – Chief Executive Officer of Glojas, Rizman Ruzaini – Malaysian fashion designer, Don Teo – Director of Operations, M Resort and Hotel, Andrea Wong – Creative director and fashion stylist, Dr. Karen Po – Medical Director of La Jung and Shweta Sekhon – Miss Universe Malaysia 2019. Malaysia is returning to Miss Universe after a year gap.

The fifteen finalists competing for Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 were Ajunee Simreet Kaur Khangura, Annatasha Shanty Jeremiah, Buganna S. Saravana Kumar, Catherine Lai Hui Yi, Chantal Yuen Tng, Cheam Wei Yeng, Clarissa Tay Wei Qi, Joann Tiong Hau Ping, Kasshvini Mathuraiveran, Kaverrna Nair Sukumaran, Phan Jing Mun, Tee Wan Ying, Thevambbikai G.K Kasinathan, Varyne Foo Augustine and Wong Siu Jane.
