The first edition of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 is all set to crown its queen on 25th October 2020 Cordillera Convention Hall, Baguio Country Club, Baguio. The stunning beauties from all over the country will compete for the national crown and an opportunity to represent the Philippines in Miss Universe 2020. Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados of Talisay, Cebu will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
The divas have been performing exceptionally well at the competition and we have selected our favorites who we think have the potential to not only win the title but also mark their own journey in the beauty pageant world. Let’s look at the stunning divas of Miss Universe Philippines 2020:
Apriel Smith
Apriel Smith is representing the province of Cebu at the competition. She is 24-years-old and stands 175 cm tall and has graduated with a degree in Tourism Management from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City. Apriel is one of the strongest and potential winners for the title as she is well experienced in the field of beauty pageants. She strongly believes that beauty pageants help to empower women and inspire them to embrace their natural beauty which she admires. Apriel is a sports person and her advocacy is to help the youth to have a bright future ahead of them that is why her advocacy is to bring sports to them as their hobby for them to stay away from drugs.
Alaiza Flor Malinao
Alaiza Malinao is representing Davao City at the competition. She is s 26-years-old and stands 175cm tall. She is a Psychology graduate and now works as a professional model. She has been a very strong contender for the title and shows immense dedication towards winning it and representing the Philippines at Miss Universe 2020 stage. Being a Psychology graduate, Alaiza is an advocate of mental wellness awareness and is appointed as ambassador for Flourish Circle by ‘Love Yourself’ organization. It is a community-driven initiative that utilizes peer support to facilitate resilience and wellness to those experiencing thoughts and feelings related to depression, anxiety, and suicide. She feels that Miss Universe Philippines 2020 is an apt platform to advocate about Mental Health and the need to give it importance.
Michele Gumabao
Michele Gumabao is representing the Quezon City at the competition. She is 27 years of age and stands 177cm tall and is a graduate graduated in Marketing Management from De La Salle University where she was a consistent Dean’s lister and now works as a professional volleyball player and a TV presenter for ABS-CBN Sports and Action. She is an advocate of sports and she build a volleyball camp in 2012 which seeks to give children the potentially life-altering option of choosing volleyball as passion. The diva also advocates about body positivity and has emerged as one of the potential winners for the competition. Her social media and visibility on small screen have kept everyone in loop with improvements on herself and the way she relates to the public in general.
Sandra Raymundo Lemonon
Sandra Lemonon is representing the province of Taguig at the competition. She is 25-years-old and stands 175cm tall and has graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Escola Portuguesa de Macao in Macau, China. She is one of the strongest contenders at the competition who is not only experienced but also very kind and hopeful for a chance that she will represent the Philippines at Miss Universe 2020 stage. She strongly believes that kindness is a universal language and being kind to one another is the first step to respecting and understanding each other’s difference. She wants to share to everyone that true beauty comes from the heart.
Sigrid Grace Flores
Sigrid Grace Flores is representing the province of Catanduanes at the competition. She is 25-years-old and has graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at Central Philippine University before going to the University of the Philippines Visayas to study political science. The diva defines define beauty as one elicited from within, rather than just physical and believes that it is beyond the physical appearance. She believes that we all can help others despite the size of our wallets. She claims that we do not live in time anymore where only rich people could help, which is why her advocacy has always been philanthropic leadership. Her ambition is to mobilize, empower and network people who have the heart to start their own movement to help others.
Tracy Maureen Perez
Tracy Maureen Perez is representing the Cebu City at the competition. She is 26-years-old and stands 170 cm tall and has a degree in Industrial Engineering at USC Cebu. She is not new to the world of beauty pageants and her experience shows with her strong performance throughout the competition. The diva’s strong mindedness and her way of intellectually answering the questions thrown at her is the best quality she has in her. She also enjoys various sports and keeps her mother’s values with her to move forward. Her empathy, mature thinking and finding ways to help people around are her strong character traits which makes her a strong contender.
Pauline C. Amelinckx
Pauline C. Amelinckx is representing the province of Bohol at the competition. She is 24-years-old and has earned her bachelor’s degree in in International Studies, major in European Studies at the Cebu Doctors' University in Mandaue City, Cebu and she currently works as a Retail and Sales Consultant at CWC Interiors in Taguig. Pauline advocates to use art and create a children's colouring book to raise awareness in kids, at an earlier age, regarding the environment they live in where she hopes that the awareness will in turn develop love and a sense of protection in the kids. She chose this because drawing and making doodle is her form of self-expression. And with her art, she wants this to become her personal advocacy. Her goal is to start on a small scale and hopefully extend her reach perhaps with more coloring books focused on different aspects of the environment and wildlife. And she is also hoping to teach kids how to draw certain things so that they too may be able to use it as a form of self-expression.
Skelly Ivy Florida
Skelly Ivy Florida is representing the province of Biliran at the competition. She is 20-years-old and stands 167cm tall and is a student of Tourism Management at the Biliran Province State University. She is passionate about modeling and volleyball. She participated and won the title of Miss Naval State University and Miss PASUC in 2017. The diva sure is well-experienced after being given chances to compete in the pageants. She is referred to as Black Barbie Doll because her features are very similar to that of a barbie doll. She is determined, hard-working and patient when it comes to what she wants. She chases her dreams, but with patience as she believes that whatever will be hers, will come to her. Since, she plays volleyball at a professional level, she is well-aware about how to work in a team and Miss Universe Philippines 2020 competition is where her abilities to stay calm, composed will help her.
Maria Ysabella Ysmael
Maria Ysabella Ysmael is representing the province of Paranaque at the competition. She is 24-years-old ballerina at Hampton Court Ballet. Bella graduated from the De La Salle University with a degree in Psychology. She is a mix of Filipina, Spanish and Lebanese. The diva is the grand-daughter of former actress Marita Zobel and niece of the country’s second Miss Universe Margarita Moran. She feels that beauty pageants are a perfect stage where she can voice out her opinions, and she likes to blog about it too. She stands strongly for Mental Health Awareness and is fighting the stigma surrounding it.
Kimberly Hakenson
Kimberly Hakenson is representing Cavite at the national competition. She has Business Administration major’s degree in Marketing Management from St. Dominic College of Asia. She has a charming personality and she can attain the attention of many with her mesmerizing aura. She believes in self-love as it is one of the most important things that everyone should work on. Life can be hard enough without negative self-talk and self-loathing. Her winning cause, also called W.I.N. (Women Empowerment and Individual Advocates towards Nature and wildlife preservation and responsiveness) has impressed everyone with this comprehensive self-penned advocacy. Billie has worked hard for her advocacy and has become a strong contender for the national crown.
