After Miss Universe Philippines branched out from Binibining Pilipinas and began its preparation for the first ever solo edition i.e. Miss Universe Philippines 2020, the organization has been gearing up for the big event. Miss Universe Philippines 2011 Shamcey Supsup, national director of Miss Universe Philippines organization, led the launch of the search of the diva who will be representing Philippines at Miss Universe 2020. Along with Shamcey, Miss Universe Philippines 2006 Lia Andrea Ramos, as head of Women Empowerment and Charity, and queen-maker Jonas Antonio Gaffud, as creative director of MUPh are also preparing for the competition.

“I think (the most important) is really the confidence and the character of the girl. I think she should be somebody who really wants to achieve something. We are looking for somebody who wants to have an impact in the community.”  Shamcey explained when asked about what are the qualities Miss Universe Philippines 2020 is looking for.

The first ever winner of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 will be representing the Philippines at Miss Universe 2020. She will succeed Gazini Ganados, who was crowned in Binibining Pilipinas 2019 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on June 9, 2019. Miss Universe Philippines 2020’s final screening was held at the Empire Studio of Uptown Mall in Taguig, Metro Manila on 1st February 2020.
