The Miss Universe Philippines organization is all set to host the coronation ceremony for Miss Universe Philippines 2021 on 25th September 2021. After a series of virtual challenges, the organization announced the top 50 delegates, who moved a step closer to winning the coveted crown.

One of the delegates, Gianne Asuncion, who represents Cagayan Province, recently took to social media to share that she has been tested positive for the coronavirus. She stated, "I went silent for days. With the discovery of being COVID positive with pneumonia, I didn't know how to react. I didn't know what's the next thing that could happen. But you see, this fear of the unknown can't stop me. It might be hard, but all I know is that I will heal. I will get better. Tuloy ang laban."

The beauty queen was one of the top 15 delegates who made it to the top of the casting video challenge and was one of the strongest contenders for the title. She thanked her Aces and Queen family, Team Cagayan, and her loved ones for sending love and wishes for her speedy recovery.

The organization of Miss Universe Philippines is yet to comment or release a statement regarding the queen's health. For the next part of Miss Universe Philippines 2021, the delegates’ wits and spontaneity will be put to the test. This time, the verdict will come from a panel of experts. The Top 50 delegates will go to Manila for a live face-to-face interview challenge with the Miss Universe Philippines board of judges. Ultimately, the Top 30 will be chosen and announced.

Out of these 30 delegates, one phenomenal woman will take away the crown of Miss Universe Philippines 2021 and win an opportunity to represent the Philippines at Miss Universe 2021, scheduled to be held in Israel, this December. The winner of this year’s national pageant will succeed Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo who was placed in the Top 21 at Miss Universe 2020.

We wish the beauty queen a speedy recovery!
