Miss Universe Philippines 2022, the 3rd edition of the Miss Universe Philippines, will be held on 30th April 2022 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Bay City, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. Beatrice Luigi Gomez of Cebu City will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

Carmela Diane Doma has made it to the Top 50 of the national competition. She will be responsible for representing Sorsogon city. Doma is an agrarian reform technologist and is 27 years of age. She enjoys reading novels and writing in her free time.

Carmela left a beautiful message on women’s day on her Instagram handle. She said,” We say that all women are beautiful but we are critical when we see their physical flaws. We say that all sizes are beautiful but we frown and call them ‘too fat’ and ‘too thin’. We say that all hues are beautiful but we laugh at someone for being ‘too dark’ and smirk at them for being too fair’.”

“As we celebrate international women's month, let us rejoice in the different aspects of beauty. Let us stop conforming to the stereotypical standard that for a woman to be called beautiful she must possess the ‘standard body proportions’, or have the ‘appropriate skin color’. Let us naturalize saying that STRETCH MARKS are beautiful. Underarm hairs are beautiful. Voluptuous is beautiful. Skinny is beautiful. Dark and fair are both beautiful. Having children is beautiful. Not wanting to have one is also beautiful,” she continued.

Talking about her aspirations from her participation in the national pageant, she revealed, “In joining Miss Universe Philippines, I also want to dare to break the stereotypes. People say that I have a huge neck, arms, and thighs. Others say that I am not a beauty queen material. I won't pretend that insults don't phase me, I am. Who won't be? After all, we are just humans. But I will dare to stand up and showcase my truest self. This is my essence. I am a woman of myself and I will stand for others who have also been bullied for their physique.”
