Baguio’s Tarah Valencia is emerging as a dark horse in this year’s edition of Miss Universe Philippines 2024. A stunning Cordilleran beauty, Tarah is a graduate with a degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Baguio.

Tarah grew up fast, taking a part-time job while studying to help provide for her family after her father’s passing when she was 19 years old. Being a responsible and determined young lady, Tarah has emerged as a strong contender for the Miss Universe Philippines 2024, advocating for preserving Baguio’s delicate ecosystem and sustainable tourism practices.

Previously, Tarah won Miss Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio 2023 and Miss Beautéderm-Miss Baguio Turismo 2023, which allowed her to introduce the passion for promoting Baguio’s tourism industry. Her passion to showcase Baguio’s rich and unique traditions has upped her position in the list of top contenders for the crown this year.

Speaking about her journey, Tarah took to her official social media as she wrote, “My journey to becoming an empowered woman began when I took control over my life at 19. In my father’s passing, I took it upon myself to take care of our family and be the other half of my mother. I worked part time as a Banquet Dining Service Associate while balancing it with my studies.”

“Being an “ate” to my younger siblings, I’ve also become their friend. Although life became tougher for us, I chose to be brave for my family and provide them the strength they needed. Now, as I embark on this Miss Universe Philippines journey, I am here to empower not just my family but others as well”, she added.

With her awe-inspiring journey, confidence and the determination to win the national title, Tarah will definitely be a strong contender for Miss Universe Philippines 2024. The winner will succeed Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee and will represent Philippines at Miss Universe 2024.
