Jasmine Stringer was crowned Miss World Australia 2023 at the finale of the national contest held on 18th August 2023 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland. Ever since, Jasmine has been preparing to represent Australia at 72nd Miss World.
Jasmine has, indeed, very high shoes to fill with her predecessor, Kristen Wright, winning a spot in the Top 12 at 71st Miss World and also winning the Miss World Oceania 2024 continental title. Stringer was born and raised in Gold Coast. Jasmine attended Ashmore State School and then Aquinas College before completing a Bachelor of Education at Griffith University in 2019.
Through her reign, Jasmine works towards raising funds and awareness for domestic violence. At 16 years of age, Jasmine won Miss Teenager Australia and went on to win the Miss Teenager Universe in Panama which launched her pageant career. Working as a model ever since, she has worked with many brands around the world. Her pageant journey is a story of perseverance as she participated thrice in the national pageant before thinking of retiring from the pageant world.
Jasmine is also a talented singer, winning singing competitions when she was just 12. She showcased her singing skills at the Miss Universe Australia competition as well. For her advocacy, Jasmine works towards advocating for Tara Brown Foundation, a placed set up in honor of Jasmine’s good friend Tara Brown who was murdered by her ex-partner in 2015 in a horrific domestic violence case.
Stringer is also working on a children’s book to educate children on what to do if they’re in a household with family violence, and who to turn to if they feel unsafe. “As we’ve seen, especially with the rate of domestic violence in this country, sometimes one or both parents aren’t our safe place. So having a book that speaks clearly and simply about who are safe people to talk to if you’re in trouble is, I think, a great initiative that I really want to set my sights on”, she said in a recent interview.
For her international stint, Jasmine will represent Australia at the 72nd Miss World where she will seek to bring home the third Miss World crown for Australia. The country holds two Miss World crowns under its belt; Penelope Plummer won the first one in 1968 while Belinda Green won in 1972.
