Binibining Pilipinas has been a very fruitful and famous national pageant which has proved to bring out the top beauties with brains since the organisation was first initiated. Over the years, since its formation in the year 1964, this organization has trained beauty queens to bring home prestigious crowns back home, giving the nation a thrust of beauty pageants with titleholders who have proved themselves to be leaders, role models, ambassadors and social workers.

Just in the year 2018, the organization crowned six beauty queens and the titles that were given out were Miss Universe Philippines 2018, Binibining Pilipinas International 2018, Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2018, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2018, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2018 and Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2018. Out of these six titles, four beauty queens have already gotten placement in their respective pageants, with the finale of Miss Intercontinental 2018 to be held on 26th January 2019.

However, all the glory aside, there is a huge possibility that Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray might be the last ever Miss Universe Philippines to be crowned by the Binibining Pilipinas Organization as there are talks going around of Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis ‘Chavit’ Singson trying to convince the Miss Universe Organization for the acquisition of the Miss Universe Philippines leg from the beloved national pageant.

While Miss Universe Philippines being a franchise of its own would be a very grand step up in the ladder of the pageant world, people are very sceptical about the transition as the Binibining Pilipinas Organization have never failed to disappoint the nation when it came to selecting beauty queens who would make the nation proud. Added to that is the fact that over the years, the organisation has produced four Miss Universe and six Miss International titleholders since its commencement.

While Chavit Singson spoke to the media and said, “It has not yet been announced. I think it shall be formally announced this January or February when Catriona comes back again to the Philippines,” Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Incorporated chairwoman Stella Marquez-Araneta has snubbed these claims and said that the franchise was still with the Binibining Pilipinas Organization.

Until there is an official confirmation, nothing more can be said about either claim from both the parties, so here’s to wishing that the nation produces more exemplary beauty queens like Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray!
