Miss Universe Spain 2018 Angela Ponce, one of the most sought-after contestants of this year’s edition recently said that winning this year's Miss Universe would be a victory 'for human rights’. Being the first transgender competing in Miss Universe, it surely is a victory already for the whole community as their road to this journey has not been an easy one.

But as the Miss Universe 2018 is commencing, the online gamblers have made her the odds-on front-runner for the finale already which will happen on 17th December 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. Angela has received quite a few setbacks since her representation was confirmed because she was born a male who went through a gender reassignment surgery.

Her win would mean a defeat of all those, especially the former owner of Miss Universe Organization Donald Trump who did not allow transgender to compete in the pageant till 2012. For Angela, as she said, “More than a message, it would be a win for human rights. Trans women have been persecuted and erased for so long. If they give me the crown, it would show trans women are just as many women as cis women."

"As the competition nears, online bookies are taking action, and Ponce has grown to become the clear favourite with current odds of +600," a magazine reported as the figures were taken from a prominent gambling site.

There is no doubt that the Spanish beauty has increased her odds of winning the crown with all the speculation surrounding her representation. While she has received opposing views from her competitors as well, her patience and calm still persist. Whether her win will work in the favour of the community or piss of the other half opposing the view is to be seen but it is quite evident that a wave of change has entered the pageantry, for good or for bad, is for you to decide.
