Miss Universe Thailand 2020 Amanda Obdam has begun her journey to the 69th edition of Miss Universe as she gets ready to fly to Florida on Turkish Airlines. The organization uploaded a video of the diva getting prepared to begin her journey for Miss Universe 2020 today.
The support for the Thai queen has been massive not only in Thailand but across the world which has given Amanda much-needed confidence and a little push to prepare well and perform her best at the competition. Miss Universe Thailand 2020 Amanda Obdam is 27-years-old and is a co-founder of Batika Studio, a product line honoring traditional batik art through sustainable everyday clothing and tote bags.
Amanda is one of the strongest contenders for the title of Miss Universe 2020 and has graduated with honors from the University of Toronto with a degree in business administration. She is a mental health advocate and started her "Have You Listened" campaign to promote listening to understand in the community. She believes that we can provide help by truly listening to one another. She explained, “I think what’s lacking in our society is to listen with empathy, because I feel like we all want to speak, we all want to talk about ourselves, but we forget to listen to our friends and our family about what they’re going through.”
While preparing for the competition, Amanda had shared that there is a lot of pressure for women to fit into the idealistic beauty standards and she has received comments for being too short of beauty pageants but what keeps her going and motivated is a positive thought that beauty pageants give the women a platform to empower them. “So many women are applying from different backgrounds, coming together to empower one another, and people that weren’t deemed to be beautiful are now more confident to enter the competition as well,” she adds.
The 69th edition of Miss Universe i.e., Miss Universe 2020 is going to be held on 16th May 2021 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, the USA where delegates from all over the world will compete for the crown. The winner will succeed Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa for the title.
