On 3rd January 2018, Miss Universe Vietnam set up its press conference in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Before, 45 contestants were selected to compete in the much-coveted pageant but, unfortunately, 3 withdrew just before the finale. The 42 finalists oozed confidence and grace in dazzling evening gowns as they came out in front of the media just before the finale night.

Miss Universe Vietnam’s jury includes international participants to ensure transparency, prestige and quality in the competition so that everyone gets a fair chance to represent themselves in front of them. The jury is selected from different fields: photographers, engineers, teachers, performing arts.

Tran Ngoc Nhat, the head of the Organizing Board, also shared his opinion at the conference on how Miss Universe Vietnam is the first and also the only beauty contest in Vietnam that has auditors which provide transparency and also equality to the organisation.

The press conference witnessed all the participants looking enigmatic and displayed their personality without any inhibitions. This time judging panel will also see Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy as one of the judges. The National Director of the competition Duong Truong Thien Ly said: "Mai Phuong Thuy is a visionary, has the heart to represent the identity of beautiful Vietnam, and also has the splendid beauty which cannot be denied.”

The head of the organizing committee Tran Ngoc Nhat also expects a lot from all the participants this year as he commented, “In 2015, at the finale, at the moment of proclaiming the crown (Miss Pham Huong), the audience stood up and clapped their hands together, hoping that the moment would be repeated on the finale this year.”

All the contestants are giving their level best to present the best version of themselves and win the much coveted Long Beach Pearl crown.  With the rigorous training that all the contestants go through, they are definitely going to set the stage on fire in the upcoming finale night on 6th December 2017.

Will Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 be as splendid as it was in 2015? Let’s hope for the best
