In an unfortunate turn of events, Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 1st Runner-up Thao Nhi Le will not be representing Vietnam at Miss Universe 2023. Miss Universe Vietnam organization made the announcement for the same through their official social media.

According to the new Miss Universe 2023 rules, to participate in Miss Universe competition, the national pageant must be held annually and only the winner will be nationally represented at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador.

In the spirit of collaboration that benefits and honors Unicorp's huge contribution to the development of Miss Universe in Vietnam, the organization asked Miss Universe to allow runner-up Thao Nhi to represent Vietnam in this year's pageant. Despite the two sides, an agreement could not be reached on the transfer of the management of runner-up Thao Nhi to Miss Universe Vietnam - a mandatory requirement of the Miss Universe organizers for her to participate in the pageant.

“We understand and respect Unicorp's view on this issue. We pledge to choose the worthy Vietnamese representative to represent the country in the 72nd Miss Universe competition in El Salvador and strive to bring the best achievement to Vietnam. We will not stop trying to develop, honor the beauty, talent of Vietnamese women and bring the audience the best experiences at Miss Universe 2023”, the organization wrote.

“We greatly appreciate your support and enthusiasm for Miss Universe and the pageant's mission in uplifting the role of women globally. We believe that together, we can create positive change and inspire future generations to pursue their dreams”, they added.
