Mireia Lalaguna, Miss World 2015, seems to be enjoying her reign finally. The beauty queen had her first public engagement as the Miss World. The press meet was held in Madrid, Spain, followed by a special banquet for all gathered at the Hotel NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding. Mireia had a one on one discussion with the press and shared her experience to the audience.

Mireia’s victory marked Spain’s first ever Miss World victory in its 65 years of history. The press conference was one lively event and Mireia was greeted by national and international media, followed by photo session of Miss World with media and fans. Speaking of her new role, Mireia said “I am so proud of my victory, not just for myself, but for my family, my region and my country, and I hope to represent them all as best as I can during my reign.”

The press conference included of a question and answer session. What was also noted by some was the change in the format of Spain’s representative selection for Miss World and Mireia’s win during the same year. 2015 saw Spain’s qualification process adapt to be more like Miss World, bringing in challenge events identical to Miss World.

“I have had a couple of private interviews since becoming Miss World, but nothing like this.” reflected Mireia today, looking back on yesterday’s event. “Everyone was really nice though, and they had obviously done their research, as they had many interesting questions. They were impressed that the Miss World crown was passed by a lady training to be a doctor, to one studying Pharmacy!”

Mireia was later interviewed by all the major Spanish TV channels, including Aurelio Manzano of Telecinco, alongside several international outlets. The conference concluded with an evening banquet in Mireia’s honour, with guests and media invited to celebrate her victory.
