Mireia Lalaguna and Julia Morley visit Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Kenya

Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna along with Miss World President Julia Morley and MW2015 2nd RU Maria Harfanti (Indonesia) is touring and travelling Kenya, at the same time fulfilling her duties as the reigning queen. The MWO donated a cheque of 1.2million KES ($12,000) impressed by the amazing work of Smile Train Africa.

Mireia, Julia and Maria travelled to the Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Nairobi to witness the work and dedication of Smile Train charity. The delegates of Miss World met the children at the hospital and spent some quality time with the patients.

Maria Harfanti and Mireia Lalaguna also met the beneficiary of the Smile Train program and gained more knowledge about their projects and future planning. The beauty queens were also joined by the Miss World Kenya 2016 Roshanara Ebrahim.

Miss World Kenya 2014 Idah Nguma’s Beauty With a Purpose project was one of the five projects that impressed the judges at the Miss World 2014. Miss World Organisation’s visit was also to felicitate the charity with a cheque for Idah’s hard work. After the charity and visit, Mireia, Jula and Maria attended a press conference.

"Thank you so much. May all the hands that gave this gift receive so much more!" said Dr. Njoroge, the Regional Director for Smile Train Africa at the press conference.

 "This will go a long way in supporting the work we are doing here in Kenya for children born with cleft lip and palate, restoring their smiles, reuniting families and building communities... We want Miss World to experience first hand the people who have been touched by Smile Train", he further added.

Miss World CEO Julia Morley also said "We are here to honour the great work Smile Train is doing and we are so proud of Idah for getting involved with such a great cause. These children have had a hard star to life, and its places like this which can really help them reach their true potential.”
