Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar along with Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle and Miss World 2014 Dr. Rolene Strauss is celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of Nelson Mandela at Mveso, the birthplace of the former President.

Along with the other national leaders from all over the world, Manushi was welcomed by the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa. The president is going to unveil the first Sanitary Towel Machine to be installed in South Africa. The installation is a result of Manushi Chhillar’s Beauty with a Purpose Project on Feminine Hygiene that is making a huge impact internationally.

As a part of the ceremony herself, Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss posted the information about the project on her official social media just hours ago, “This is the definition of Beauty with a Purpose crossing continents... Our current Miss World Manushi Chhillar is passionate about educating young women when it comes to menstrual health. With the Miss World Organisation’s support and passion, all is possible! The very first 100% compostable, highly efficient and low cost sanity pad making machine was such a huge success in India and today this life changing machine started her journey here in South Africa. Mister Nelson Mandela was passionate about women’s rights and health and his home village Mveso is thus the perfect start to a ripple effect here in Africa. We would like to thank Aakar Innovations who made this machine come to life as well as the Tsiko Barberry Foundation and Cintron for sponsoring the first machine in Africa. Here’s to lives being improved and dreams coming true!.”

On her commendable achievement in spreading the need for menstrual hygiene among women, Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar remarked, “I cannot believe this is happening, it is a dream come true. I know the priority President Mandela placed on solving the inequality faced by young girls who did not have access to Feminine Hygiene and now thanks to Julia Morley, the Miss world Organisation, Barberry (SA) and to you Chief Mandela, we are providing a solution in your grandfather’s home village of Mvezo.”

Well, we’d like to wish her and the whole team which was involved for the momentous day and celebration of one of the greatest idols of South Africa, Mr. Nelson Mandela.
