Ruthgainy Frans crowned Miss Bonaire 2018

Miss Bonaire 2018 took place on March 24, 2018, at the Harbour Village in Kralendijk. The event concluded with the crowning of 24 years old Ruthgainy Frans as Miss Bonaire 2018. She will now represent Bonaire at the Miss World 2018 pageant, where Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar will crown her successor.

During the same event, Vera Ghazzouli was titled as the first runner-up while Nayeli Lugo was adjudged as the second runner-up. The first runner-up, Vera Ghazzouli, was chosen Miss Bonaire Intercontinental 2018, at the same event.

Ruthgainy shall compete with 100+ contestants from all around the world In the event of Ruthigainy not being able to compete at Miss World 2018, a runner-up will be sent to take her place as the delegate of Bonaire. Ruthgainy stands at a striking height of 5 feet 10 inches.

Traditionally, Miss Bonaire send the winner at Miss Universe in 1967–1999. In 1973–1983 Miss Bonaire winner competed at Miss Intercontinental pageant. Since 2000s Bonaire did not compete at International pageants. In 2010 Bonaire declared to return at International pageants.

The Miss Bonaire Organization provides training and access to a young woman, to function as an ambassadress of Bonaire at huge grand slam pageants, with the goal to promote Bonaire's tourism industry and give Bonaire exposure.

Since 2010 the Netherlands proclaimed that Bonaire is being Municipality of the Netherlands. The Miss Universe confirmed that Bonaire will only allow competing at Miss Nederland and will not go to Miss Universe anymore. If the Miss Bonaire wins the Miss Nederland, she may welcome to compete at Miss Universe as "Miss Universe Netherlands".

Saphira Janga Miss Bonaire 2012 Saphira Janga was 21 years old when she beat 2 other contestants to win the title and the honour of representing her country at Miss World 2013 in September 2013 in Indonesia.

Bonaire's representative for Miss World 2012 was also announced as Ana Maciel who was 20 years old at the time and stands 5 feet 5 inches tall. She represented Bonaire at the 2012 Miss World Pageant on August 18 in China.

The decision was taken due to the cancellation of the Miss Bonaire 2011 pageant.

So in conclusion, Ruthigainy will be marking the comeback of Bonaire at the Miss World pageant after a hiatus of 6 long years.
