The finale of Miss World 2021, the 70th edition of Miss World, will be held on 16th March 2022 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In a recent announcement made by the Miss World organization, Top 40 delegates were selected to enter the final leg of the competition.

In a series of features, here are the forty delegates, in no particular order, (15 from the fast-track competitions and 25 through judges’ choice) who will fly to Puerto Rico for the coronation night. Nellie Anjaratiana representing Madagascar has secured a spot in Top 40 by being one of the judges’ choice winners.

Nellie Anjaratiana was elected Miss World Madagascar 2020 in July last year. Hailing from Port Bergé, Nellie represented the Diaspora province at the contest. She is a 24-year-old life sciences graduate who also holds a diploma in customer relations. The stunning beauty is contributing to the development of Madagascar in being a member of the Dera and Main tendue charities.

For her Beauty with a Purpose project, Nellie is helping to save abandoned twins. In the Antambahoaka tribe of the Mananjary region of Madagascar, there is a traditional taboo causing the painful custom of parents abandoning twin babies. The Miss World Madagascar organisation wants to raise awareness of this custom and support the affected families.

Through her reign, Nellie will be aiding these associations in removing the cursed twins customs and breaking the taboo. Madagascar last competed in 2018 and has not yet pioneered its win at Miss World. If Nellie wins this year, it is definitely going to be a historic one for her country.
