Newly crowned Miss World Australia Esma Voloder slammed for supporting Islam

The newly crowned Miss World Australia 2017, Esma Voloder is a believer of Islam and hopes to use the title to clear the misconceptions people have for her religion. She recently expressed her views about the religion clearly and wanted to keep people aware of the same.

“The Islam that I know, that is in the Koran, I don't associate that with any acts that are occurring around the world,” she said after winning the crown.

“A lot of things have been misconstrued about Islam. I feel that a category has been created that is not really what the Koran actually promotes. I believe Islam is about peace, unity, prosperity and inclusion,” she ended.

But people trolled her for supporting her religion. She has fired back at “upsetting” people who claim the Muslim woman does not represent their nation, saying: “Life if too short for negativity.”

“I forgive them ... I feel it comes from a lack of understanding,” The 25-year-old said. “I am hoping to break down the barriers by just being me.”

Miss World Australia National Director, Deborah Miller told a leading daily that the organisation had received many “awful and mean” calls demanding she be replaced. “We have had lots of calls, people saying terrible things,” She said.

“People have said: “How did you let a Muslim win?”. We believe Esma is a strong woman and represents a multicultural Australia.”

Ms Voloder said, “Many people fall into a trap of believing what they are told but they would not detract her from trying to win the global Miss World title.”

This is the spirit one should have within. Esma comes up as a strong woman. She is all set to represent Australia at the prestigious Miss World 2017 beauty pageant slated to be held later this year.
