Andela Paleksic was crowned the national winner during the grand finale of Miss World Bosnia and Herzegovina 2018 held recently at the Bosnian Cultural Centre (BKC) in Tuzla. She will now represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in Miss World 2018 to be held on 8th December 2018 in Sanya, China where Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar will crown the new queen.

Andela succeeds Miss World Bosnia and Herzegovina 2017 Aida Karamehmedovic. Unfortunately, Aida could not secure a position in the finale of Miss World 2017 where she represented her nation. However, she did manage to secure a position in the Top 30 in the Top Model Challenge Event.

There were 19 contestants who competed for the national title out of which Andela emerged as the winner. She is a student at the Department of Serbian Language and Literature where she is completing her second year. Andela is also a model and takes on projects on a part time basis. She sometimes works as an English translator as well. Added to that, she is also pursuing iconography and different animation courses.

Andela is 20 years of age and is from the city of Sarajevo and as if she does not have a lot on her plate, academically, Andela also has been doing volunteer work with young children since the past three years. Since the motto of Miss World is “Beauty with a Purpose”, she is really proving herself as a strong and worthy candidate.

The court of Miss World Bosnia and Herzegovina 2018 Andela Paleksic included Elma Šljivic and Jelena Škrgic as the first and second runners-up respectively.

Bosnia and Herzegovina are yet to make a mark in the Miss World beauty pageant since its commencement in the year 1951. The closest the nation has come to winning the title was in the year 2002 when Miss World Bosnia and Herzegovina 2002 Danijela Vinš secured a postion in the Top 20 in the finale.
