Dominican Republic’s Yaritza Reyes celebrates her crown anniversary as Miss World Dominican Republic 2016

Yaritza Reyes represented the Dominican Republic at Miss Universe 2013 on 9th November 2013 at the Crocus City Hall, Krasnogorsk, a suburb of Moscow, Russia. She was placed at to Top 10 at the end of the event finale. Yaritza also represented the Dominican Republic at Miss World 2016 on 18 December 2016 at the MGM National Harbor, Washington, D.C., United States. She was adjudged as the first runner-up at the end of event finale.

The diva was the third woman of predominantly African heritage to represent the Dominican Republic in Miss Universe after Ruth Ocumárez in 2002 and Ada de la Cruz in 2009. Born in Comendador, Yaritza studied communications at the University of Santo Domingo.

After achieving everything she could in the pageant world, Yaritza moved on to become a successful actress in her country but sure has not forgotten to still embody the true essence of who a beauty queen is. As of now, she has been into honing another skill of hers which is singing and can be seen recording videos on her social media and captivating everyone with her voice amidst the lockdown.

Recently, the diva shared on her social media account that she has completed 4 years as Miss Mundo Dominican Republic 2016 and she is very thankful to the ones who have supported her in every possible way. She shared her crowning images and stated, “One of the most beautiful opportunities I have ever had to represent my beloved Dominican Republic ???? around the world. Carrying this name on my chest is one of the happiest things in this life.”

The diva also mentioned that she is very grateful to have a platform which served as an example for the young girls in the country and make them feel represented and tell them that they are also beautiful and that no one should judge them by their skin color, by the way they wear their hair or if they fit in a single mold of beauty, because we are all valuable and deserve to be respected. Being a beauty queen of colour, she appreciated the crowning of Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh and Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi and expressed her happiness via her social media. “Very happy to be able to see a black woman crown herself in Miss Universe after so long,” she stated after Zozibini’s win. Yaritza also mentioned that she believes that it’s time the beauty pageants change the standards and she strongly feels that Zozibini and Toni-Ann will provide with much needed change in the beauty pageant world.

Yaritza is a beautiful, confident, focused beauty queen who has not only made the people of Dominican Republic proud but every person with color proud across the globe. She is an epitome of beauty with brains who knows how to shape up her career as she is now one of the successful actress, singer, and model in the country.
