Miss Earth Philippines 2020, for the first time ever, will be held as a virtual pageant. But the organizers of Miss Philippines Earth were still able to negotiate the TV airing of its 2020 edition on GMA-7 on 5th July 2020 at 10am.
The finals will be pre-recorded, if rumors are to be believed, a full day before the telecast. So the challenge will be to how to prevent spoilers from seeping out of the closely-guarded filming. Marah Ruiz of GMA Network reported the development as she wrote -
"For the first time in its 20-year history, Miss Philippines Earth will be holding its 2020 pageant online. The much-awaited coronation ceremony will be aired exclusively on GMA on July 5 at 10:00 am. After the telecast, the pageant will also be streamed via GMA Network’s official website, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a few of the pageant’s activities have been held via Facebook Live. These include competitions for talent, long gown, beachwear, and sportswear, as well as pre-judging for beauty, figure, form, and poise. A few more are scheduled to be held online like the competition for casual and cultural wear, as well as pre-judging for intelligence and environmental awareness. Outgoing Miss Philippines Earth Janelle Tee will pass the crown to one of the 33 beauty queen hopefuls vying to be Miss Philippines Earth 2020."
