Riya is not new to the pageantry as she was crowned Miss Alom Mumbai 2018 and has worked with various brands and designers in the country to gain experience as well as intensive knowledge about beauty pageants. She is hardworking, focused, and very determined towards her goal which is to make India proud by winning the title. After winning, the title she mentioned, "My message to all the girls out there is that work hard and your dreams will come true.”

Riya belongs to a backward community but her constant effort and heard work has made her not only with a crown but also make the entire community proud. She believes that she is proud to represent a community that has still has maintained and kept all the traditional values and costumes alive. Giving credits to her father for his constant encouragement and support, she said that it was her father who wanted her to participate in the beauty pageant and win. “Somehow my father had tremendous amount of confidence in me that I can participate in a beauty pageant. It is his support that I got selected for the competition and eventually won,” she says

Riya’s win had a great impact on the community as she explains that when she was crowned as Miss Alom Mumbai 2018, the beauty pageants were only considered as a competition held for pretty face and best body but her own experience made her as well as the community or the people around her realise that it’s beyond that. The community started to acknowledge and understand that beauty pageant or modelling is a respectable profession and more and more people started to seek her guidance and suggestions about their participation or their daughter’s.

Refuting the belief that beauty pageants are meant only for the rich and elite, she said that economic status has nothing to do with it. “One need not to spend huge money for it. Even with limited financial assistance, one could join the pageant. But what is essential is self-confidence and a strong zeal,” she said.

Riya Rathod wishes to work for bringing education to her community by working with some NGOs. “Education is the fundamental aspect for the uplift of any backward community, and I wish to work in this sector for my community,” she said. With such immense confidence and positive approach, Riya emerges as a strong candidate for the title of Miss World India 2020, if she decides to participate. The diva believes that once you start dreaming and working towards them, things eventually fall into the places. She is not only beautiful and confident but also very intelligent and quick with her answers. She works on her communication, body postures, angles, on-stage walk everyday which will surly help her during the competition.
