Haruka Yamashita crowned Miss World Japan 2017

Haruka Yamashita was crowned Miss World Japan 2017 at the conclusion of the grand finale held on 4th September 2017. With this victory, Haruka has earned the privilege to represent Japan in the 67th edition of the Miss World pageant to be held on 18th November 2017 in Sanya, China.

Haruka is 21 years of age and stands tall at 170 cm. The new beauty queen hails from Tokyo and is a student of Keio University. Haruka is well versed in English and has even won an English speech presentation competition prior the finale.

In the same event, Rumi Shinoda was adjudged as the first runner-up, while Saki Yamato finished as the second runner-up.

Just after the win, she posted the picture on Facebook with the caption saying, “I am so happy to announce that I was chosen as Miss World Japan 2017. I'm so honoured to represent my home country, Japan. To all of you, who supported me and voted for me, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support. I really appreciate it all”.

Till date, no beauty queen from Japan has ever managed to bring home the Miss World crown, this year it’s Haruka’s chance to make her country proud by winning the first Miss World title for Japan.
