At the conclusion of the grand finale of Miss Haiti 2017 (Miss Universe Haiti 2017) held on 3rd September 2017 at Marriot Hotel, Port au Prince, Chéry Cassandra was crowned Miss Universe Haiti 2017. She will now represent Haiti in Miss Universe 2017 to be held later in this year.

Chéry Cassandra, a 21-year-old model from Port-au-Prince, succeeds and was crowned by Miss Universe Haiti 2016 Raquel Pélissier.

At the same event, Caroline Begin was declared the first runner-up, and Marie Gerline Moreau was declared as the second runner-up. Alexandra Eloisier, Chrystel Dufour, and Wendy Legerme completed the rest of the Top 6 finalists.

Just after the win, she posted her picture with a caption saying, “I'm learning to love myself. Every story, scar, and the moment I've held captive from the world. I'm learning to hold all of those things with care and then slowly let them drift away”.

“My dream was always to inspire people positively I always told myself that I was born for that and last night I made history the dream that I cherish long time ago just came true”.

Last year, Haiti's representative came very close to winning the title of Miss Universe 2016 and finished as the first runner-up at the grand finale of the event held in the Philippines. That has raised the expectations of the fans in Haiti from their newly crowned queen.

Well, we hope that Chéry Cassandra lives up to the expectations of the fans.
